I would like to extend a warm welcome to our students and families as we embark upon our sixth year as a community school in Collierville. It is an honor to serve Collierville Middle as the interim Principal for the 2019-2020 school year. My mission is to build upon the tradition of excellence that has distinguished Collierville Middle School since its inception. Collierville Middle School has inhabited several different geographic locations since opening in 1973, but one thing has remained constant, an excellent education has been provided due to the strong partnership between supportive parents who make education a priority and the talented and caring faculty and staff. We take the trust you place in us very seriously and consider it a privilege to educate your children. My personal commitment to you is that every student at CMS will feel valued, have a sense of belonging, and will be provided educational and extracurricular opportunities to truly thrive. Having been a Collierville teacher and parent, I have a clear understanding and appreciation of the high standards and expectations of the Collierville community in regard to education. I look forward to working with the students, parents, faculty and staff to build on the traditions of the past and continue the legacy of excellence that our children deserve. I am so proud to be a CMS Dragon!
My name is Anita Swindle. After an early career in the corporate sector, I returned to school to obtain a degree in education at the University of Memphis. I later obtained both my Master of Education and Education Specialist at Union Universit. I have served our community as an administrator at Collierville Middle since the inaugural year of our wonderful municipal school district. Overall, I’ve enjoyed 20+ years as an educator in various roles. Prior to my current role as interim Principal I served as a teacher, assistant principal at Shadowlawn Middle, central office supervisor with legacy Shelby County Schools, and five years as assistant principal at Collierville Middle. I was fortunate to work with students for many years as a teacher, most spent in the halls of Crosswind Elementary and Schilling Farms Middle here in Collierville. Collierville is my home, I have resided in Collierville for 20 years and I love this community. My husband James is a teacher at Arlington High School, and we have two grown daughters, Katie and Samantha, who both attended Collierville schools and graduated from Collierville High School. I am honored to continue to serve CMS. Go Dragons!
