Required Materials

-Band Method Book* 
-Binder with all distributed music*
-Sharpened pencil 
-Instrument (in good working order)
 
Students who use a school-owned brass instrument in 7th/8th Grade must provide their own mouthpiece.

Instrument Care Kits

Students should have all materials needed to keep their instrument in good playing condition. Specific requirements for each instrument are as follows. These items may be purchased separately or sometimes in a kit either at Amro Music or at Lane Music.

We will go over proper care and maintenance procedures for each instrument during classes and then check throughout the year to make sure students are properly caring for their instruments. 

 
Flute - Swab, Polishing Cloth
 
Oboe/Bassoon – Swab, Cork Grease, Reed Case with name on it, Reeds (Students must have 3 or more good reeds in their reed case with them at their seat)
 
Clarinet/Bass Clarinet-Swab, Cork Grease, Reeds (Students must have good reeds in a reed guard at their seat) Reeds may be purchased at local music stores. Recommended reeds: Vandoren strength 2 1⁄2 (6th grade) or 3 (7th-8th grade).
 
Saxophone-Swab, Cork Grease, Polish Cloth, Reeds (Students must have good reeds in a reed guard with them at their seat). Recommended reeds: Vandoren strength 2 1⁄2 (6th grade) or 3 (7th-8th grade).
 
Trumpet - Valve Oil, Snake, Tuning Slide Grease, Mouthpiece Brush
 
Horn - Cleaning Cloth, Snake, Rotor Oil, Tuning Slide Grease, Mouthpiece Brush
 
Trombone – Slide oil or crème, Snake, Spray Water Bottle, Tuning Slide Grease, Mouthpiece Brush
 
Baritone or Tuba - Snake, Valve Oil, Tuning Slide Grease, Mouthpiece Brush
