CLEP Information - US History 1 & Natural Sciences

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a program that enables students to earn college credit for introductory-level courses by achieving satisfactory scores on subject-specific tests.

STEP 1: WATCH the CLEP Informational PowerPoint above.

STEP 2: EMAIL Mrs. Sutherlen to be added to the Schoology group. [email protected]

STEP 3: GO to the Modern States website to create an account:

https://modernstates.org

Modern States’ initial program, Freshman Year for Free™, is intended to let students earn up to one year of college credit without tuition or textbook expense. You must finish the Modern States program in order to apply for the free voucher. Be sure to write down your usernames and passwords in a secure location. Complete the online program.

STEP 4: Go to the following link and complete the practice CLEP US History Part 1 exam (100 questions):

Part 2 exam (20 questions):

STEP 5: Go to the CLEP website to create an account and pay for the exam:

https://clep.collegeboard.org

You will initially pay the $89 test fee and it will be refunded to you by Modern States as long as you receive the voucher from Modern States. It will take 1-5 business days to receive the voucher via your email.

*When prompted, you will register as a 10th grader at Collierville High School from the applicable drop down menus.

Be sure to write down your usernames and passwords in a secure location.

STEP 6: Register to take the exam at a testing location:

Form to take to the testing center link if you do not have a government issued form of Identification. The form MUST be signed by a NOTARY OR CMS!! See Mrs. Sutherlen:

STEP 7: Show Mrs. Sutherlen a copy of your score from your CLEP test.

IF you passed, you get to sign the

"History Has It's Eyes on You!" wall.
