Costume Guidelines

Students may dress in costume on October 31. The following guidelines must be followed:

  • School rules regarding dress code must be followed.
  • All costume preparations must be made at home (no dressing or applying make-up, etc. at school).
  • Students should be able to function normally during the school day (able to sit, walk, see, and hear without interference).
  • No head covering unless it is part of the costume.
  • Faces may not be covered. No masks or full-face paint.
  • No costume props or accessories that must be carried are allowed. Toy weapons are not allowed.
  • Costumes that depict violence, violent characters, or themes that are inappropriate for school are not allowed.
  • Costumes that are offensive, derogatory, disrespectful or likely to cause a disruption are not allowed.
  • No costumes depicting living persons are allowed (politicians, celebrities, etc.).

Students wearing costumes deemed inappropriate by the school administration will be asked to change into normal school attire. Students are asked to consider costumes that are clearly appropriate for a school setting. If you have any doubt about the appropriateness of your costume, please speak with an administrator.
